Ould Bah, the eldest son of a rich family, causes terror in the region where he lives. As a consequence, his father decides to remove his son out of the estate and inheritance. Ould Bah therefore undertakes a journey to Mecca that in reality turns out to be an excuse to go steal a berber tribe's treasure and reconquer the power that he was deprived from. When he realizes that the treasure is only a moral values book and that all his companions had been murdered pointlessly, he lapses into madness.
