A boat leaves Marseille. With just enough time to be overwhelmed by the Mediterranean blue, it is already in Algiers' harbor. On board is Sarah. Gone for thirty years, she comes to meet Rachel and Saliha, her two childhood friends. Sarah has left Algeria at the end of the independence war. Many things have changed since. She can't find Saliha, who killed herself in 1970 but she finds her brother. He tells her about her friend, about the post-independence Algeria, the feminine condition, 1968. Sarah soon goes back to her search. She goes to Israel to find Rachel. She became a doctor and married there. She tells her about the thirty years she has spent away from Algiers as well, the exile, her newfound country.
