From 1946 to 1955, numerous Martinicans took part in the Indochina war alongside French troops from the mainland. Among these soldiers, some had children with Vietnamese women. After the war these more or less official "families" had to face the repatriation of their soldier fathers. Some decided to stay in Vietnam. Others brought wife and children back with them to Martinique. Still others left alone. "Héritiers du Vietnam" focuses on the descendants of these mixed couples still living in Martinique today.
