The successful author Dr. Johannes Pfeiffer is sitting together with his friends in a cosy atmosphere with a mulled wine with a rumsoaked sugarloaf lit above it (Feuerzangenbowle). While he keenly listens to their school experiences he must recognize that he never had such fun as a pupil because he was taught by private teacher. His friends, tipsy from the mulled wine, encouraged him to dress up like a school boy and go back to school in a small town for a couple of weeks to make up for his lost time. Dressed up like a school boy he turns into a scare to his teachers and a sweetheart to his classmates.

His girlfriend Marion who doesn't know anything about it follows him, meanwhile he falls in love with the daughter of the Director. His masquerade as a school boy seems to blow up, but the young Pfeiffer knows how to handle the situation.

The "Feuerzangenbowle" with Heinz Rührmann in the maincast is one of the German film classics and is screened every year at different universities in Germany – normally provided with handmade mulled wine with a rumsoaked sugarloaf lit above it – during the Advent season. On the 9th December we will show this German classic with English subtitles. There will also be "Feuerzangenbowle" and some tasty Christmas cookies.
