An adolescent girl from a displaced Islamic family rebels against a stifling existence. Hana makes a split second decision to remove her headscarf - and faces the violent consequences.

by Fyzal Boulifa, 2010

Producers: Gavin Humphries & Anna Higgs.

In an act of rebellious defiance, teenager Hana removes her headscarf in public and runs off with a boy she picks up in a shopping centre. Director Fyzal Boulifa's bold film is an unflinching look at the extreme consequences that sometimes befall those who disobey their families. Boulifa's latest short - "The Curse" - premiered as part of Cannes 2012 Director's fortnight.
