Some of the people active in the history of Cameroonian nationalism are well known patriots in the country. My deceased father was not one of these heroes, but he fought in the bush like them. Yet his story is surrounded by mysteries, contradictions and unspoken secrets. Based on popular conceptions of the guerrilla and the myth my family keeps up, my aim is to reconstruct his real life in the bush, what he really went through with the other militant fighters of the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon during the fifties and sixties.
