Productions Thalie was founded twelve years ago, under the leadership of Jacques Turgeon, now producer for NFB.  In 1999, the young company was taken over by a team of veteran producers in the industry, Yves Fortin, André Mailly and Michel Martel.

Yves Fortin (producer | fiction/documentary/tv series), who has nearly 30 years of experience (first, in Abitibi, then in Montreal and, more recently, in Quebec City) holds an impressive track record of 17 feature films and more than 60 documentaries.  Among the best known of these: Robert Favreau's Portion d'éternité, Paule Baillargeon's Le sexe des étoiles, Denis Chouinard's Clandestins, Jean Beaudin's Souvenirs intimes. Within Productions Thalie, Yves Fortin produced Un petit vent de panique (1999) by Pierre Greco, Le Ciel sur la tête (2000) by André Melançon and Geneviève Lefebvre, the features films Le Marais (2002) and La Cité (2009) by Kim Nguyen, Manners of Dying (f.v. L'Éxécution) (2004) by Jeremy Peter Allen, and Les États-Unis d'Albert (e.v. The United State of Albert) (2005) by André Forcier.  More recently, we do mention of feature film La belle empoisonneuse (2007) by Richard Jutras and Dirty money l'infiltré (2008) by Dominique Othenin-Girard and the documentary Infiniment Québec (e.v. Forever Quebec) (2008) by Jean-Claude Labrecque, Le monde selon Monsanto (e.v. The world according to Monsanto) (2008) by Marie-Monique Robin, Les mystères sanglants de l'OTS (2006) by Yves Boisset, and Alcine le boxeur aux gants blancs and Lumière sur LA CITÉ by Stéphan Gravel.

At the documentary level, Yves Fortin and André Mailly produced, notably, the two television series Les Pays du Québec (39 films) and La Culture dans tous ses états (19 films) and also helped produce the national television series Les Francophonies d'Amérique (12 films). Within Productions Thalie, André Mailly produced several documentary such as a portrait on the author Victor-Lévy Beaulieu, VLB du bord des bêtes, a documentary choc on the human food chain Tabou (e) ! (e.v. Sludge Diet) and a documentary series on the St-Laurent river, in coproduction with Les Productions Vic Pelletier from Matane Vu du large (1 and 2),  and one in coproduction with Art et Image Productions Les gens de la terre (1 and 2).  More recently we do mention another serie that presents several cases of low quality environment that may affect and cause casualties and diseases on the related population Toxique, broadcast on Canal D, and a portrait of the Father Benoît Lacroix, Lacroix sur paroles.

In 2003, a young producer joined the team.  While developing her own project, Sonia Despars produces several short film which No Vacancy and Capacité 11 personnes by Gaël d'Ynglemare, winners of several award, Histoire de pêche by Richard Lacombe and the documentaries Tsunami la 2e vague by Richard Lacombe and Une tente sur Mars (e.v. A tent on Mars) by Martin Bureau and Luc Renaud nominee to Jutra 2010. She also coproduce with Yves Fortin the first feature film by Gaël D'Yglemare Le colis which will appear on screen this fall.

In few years, since 1998, Productions Thalie inc. has already become well established and has quickly earned the reputation as a key player in the motion picture and television production industry in Quebec City.  With the production of feature films and a lot of documentaries - unique and series - in many years, Productions Thalie has also demonstrated that it is indeed possible to conduct large-scale productions in the region. As a result of working with the local resources and calling on seasoned personnel for its creations, Productions Thalie has stimulated production as no other company has done before. Major investors, such as the SODEC, Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Television Fund, have acknowledged the work of Productions Thalie, placing it in a strong position. In the milieu, Productions Thalie is a symbol of confidence.

Today, Yves Fortin and its team are busy in the development of several projects of feature and short films, including among others La Souricière by Jacques Jacob, Le fiancé by Jeremy Peter Allen and two documentaries in 3D by Marc Fafard; the large format production Dragons 3D real myths and unreal creatures and the documentary Les ailes de Johnny May/The Wings of Johnny May.

Finally, let's mention that Productions Thalie has a broad experience in coproduction with the international, more particularly with France, Switzerland and Belgium.
