Ahmed Maher was born in Cairo (Egypt) in 1968.

He studied film and painting in Rome. In addition to teaching acting, writing and directing, he has written and directed short films, commercials and documentaries, including Nascita di ieri (1991), Twilight (1996), I segni di aprile (98), Ogni giorno (2002) and Short Cuts (2006). The Traveller (2009) is his first feature film.
