  • Davis Ntare
Musician, Song writer/composer
Principal country concerned : Column : Music, Media

Davis' story is one of perseverance and determination as he was sent back home during TPF 3's gala show. He auditioned for a second time at the beginning of this season in Uganda and Kenya.
He finally made it into the Academy and was so overwhelmed with emotion during this year's opening gala night that he took to his knees in gratitude. That determination paid off when he was crowned the winner on Sunday December 5, 2010.
Davis Hillary Ntare is a music virtuoso with a diverse musical background that started from playing the trumpet in a brass band in Uganda and singing in the choirs of schools he attended and churches he frequented, to becoming an East African sensation. He was a background vocalist and occasional guest act for Maurice Kirya. He currently plays the Solo guitar most of the time as he sings though he occasionally plays the drums.

Davis is an accomplished music teacher; he has taught voice, piano and guitar to many children in Uganda and Kenya. He is well-trained in abstract art and photography too. Davis is the perfect altruist and uses his music and art to touch people in a positive way.

He won Tusker Project Fame season four (top East African arts talent show) with overwhelming support across East Africa due to his strong vocal abilities and rich performance style which he carries to-date. He was also among the top three individuals in the Tusker All Stars season and subsequently got to perform alongside Cabo Snoop, Eve and Shaggy in an electrifying Tusker All Stars finale.

His voice is countertenor with strong falsettos and tremolos though he sometimes sings in male Soprano and Contralto. He is famous for constant adlibbing and powerful performances. His musical style is a fusion of Neo Soul, Jazz, Reggae and Afro fusion. His latest sensation is a multi-fusion of Zouk.

Although most of his music is world music, he normally combines three or four styles in his songs which often make them very acoustic and musically rich. His own composition while in the Tusker Project Fame academy, Sheka Sheka was widely received and is still popular among music lovers. He has done some other notable songs like Rise, Wanna Make love, Sisinkana and has collaborated with many artists in great hits like Even if, Fallen heroes and Locomotive.

He is constantly trying to do wonderful things in music and engage with his fans as diversely as possible. He normally performs his music live and has skills in music production. He performed at Sheebeen in Upper Hill on Sundays and Mercury Lounge at the Junction on Thursdays and at Galileo Lounge in Westlands on Wednesdays.
