Born in Libson, Portugal in 1972, he studied film in Lisbon and worked as a film critic from 1996-00. His short films have screened at numerous international film festivals and received many awards. Gomes' second feature film AQUELE QUERIDO MÊS DE AGOSTO screened at over forty film festivals all over the world, including Cannes in 2008.
