Researcher & Scholar of Media, Communication, Film, Film Industries & Computer Software.

Nyasha Mboti was in 2010 a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Zimbabwe. His thesis is about the nature of the filmic image. In his dissertation he refutes the notion that films can be sites of ?truth' or that they can mirror ?life' or reflect things that happened. Rather, he proposes that films actually function to show the world as it is not. He calls this the filmic function. Mboti's post-doctoral research interest is the creation of computer software that searches for the filmic function in film texts. Currently, he teaches courses in film, media, gender and popular culture in the English Department at the University of Zimbabwe. Nyasha Mboti can be contacted on or on myspace.com/rastanyasha
In 2011, he is PhD Postgraduate Research Advisor/Postdoctoral Fellow at Centre for Communication, Media and Society (CCMS), University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
