Buyi Philip Roy was born and raised in Kampala, Uganda march 15th 1989. At the age of 9 he developed an early interest in the arts and began dance and acting career performing on stage while in school. His worked steadily with school and church youth centres. He starred in a feature film entitled Imani and was an extra in Last King of Scotland. Buyi is a current member of Breakdance Project Uganda, a community-based non-profit organization that works to empower youth using elements of hiphop and breakdance. He has been mentored by like-minded social artists who he currently works with, such as Caroline Kamya, Abdul Muyingo, Antonio Bukhar, Abramz Tekya, Maurice Kirya, and Ras Kasozi.
Buyi currently works as a dance choreographer, costume designer, and performer for Tabu Flo, a renowned Ugandan Afro-Hiphop dance company that has inspired and influenced many young artists and youth across Uganda. Buyi owns a custom clothing line, kkoolo, and also works as a personal stylist for Ugandan dancers, and musicians
