Sylvia Babirye Kibuude is a performing artiste by profession, specializing in choreography, dancing and dance instructing. She is highly organized, endowed with leadership, computer and team work skills. She loves working with her peers and young people to give them hope for the future through the arts whenever she gets the opportunity. With her 5 years experience working with House of Talent East Africa, her  Arts Management skills have also been enhanced through hands-on and the arts management training that she got as the Management Team of House of Talent East Africa. She has a strong passion for the arts and today she is what she is because of what the arts have done and been in her life. She is a renown cultural and traditional dancer in Uganda.
 
Current Responsibilities:
Currently she is working as an Assistant Lecturer at Nagenda International School of Art and Design as well as House Of Talent East Africa as the Artistic Director where she is responsible for the following:


Develop, articulate and deliver a creative programme in line with the organization's vision and mission statements and aims and objectives, and within given resources.

In collaboration with the creative and artistic teams and staff, invent and develop new artistic and outreach programs that further the mission of the organization.

Develop partnerships with other relevant creative organizations in Uganda, East Africa and beyond/abroad.

Responsible for all Organizations' project implementation, delegation where need be is welcome

Oversee recruitment of all performers and creative personnel.

Manage and provide effective leadership on all aspects of the organization's production processes.

Ensure the organization sets and maintains highest possible standards in all productions/projects;

Oversee and maintain the highest quality of all artistic output of the organization, including but not limited to, full productions, rehearsals, readings and workshops.

Additionally, provide the Board with a final slate of projects the organization will engage in or produce.

Hire and oversee Production Manager, Creative Manager, attend final design meetings, approve designs together with the managers and providing input on rehearsals.

Artistically participate in HOT productions as director, actor, dancer, designer, or producer. Also, if necessary assume directing responsibilities, direct productions, and step in for Production Managers or Creative Manager in the event of emergencies.

Experience:
She is over 10 years old in the arts and has been a part of the following Cultural and Artistic Projects and/ or Organizations;


Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet, Uganda where my skills were enhanced and exposed between 2011 to 2013;

Silent Voices, a play production of Alfagiri Productions Ltd, 2012;

Cultural Exchange tours in Italy, Kenya and Bagamoyo, Tanzania;

The cultural collaborative production/exchange between students of Makerere University and New York University;

She is  freelancer actress, dancer and choreographer for Pride Performers;

She has managed to coordinate a number of artistic projects within and without the organization.

 
Education:


She  holds a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts (Dance and Choreography) from Makerere University;

She holds a number of certificates in the creative arts discipline from a number of workshops and conferences; I have participated in that have boasted my skill and knowledge.

Training:
I have been an Instructor/Teacher for a number of Secondly schools for their arts festival/competition;
 
Adjudication:
Presided at a number of school performing arts festivals as Judge and Adjudicator.
